Lotions, Scrubs, & Soaps by Just Jameen

Deborah Jameen Love Peel was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan.  After receiving her degree from Bauder College in Sacramento California, she returned to Detroit with husband Calvin Peel and had a baby girl named Eboni.   Eboni’s sister Wendy Peel is a Principal in Los Angeles, California.  Eboni, who was born deaf, is sixteen and currently attends the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) in Washington DC.

Though educated in Design and Drafting, Deborah decided to open a custom sewing and tailoring business but increasingly found her interest to be in personal care products.  This was based on the need to keep Eboni's skin soft and smooth as well as to address the needs of her own special skin type. “I found that many skin care products are petroleum based and this is just suicide for your skin!”

In 2002, after using and selling nearly every  product available, Deborah began to make her own unique blends.   At Christmas time, all of her family and friends received Just Jameen skin care products.  One day while wearing French Vanilla Pear lotion at the City County Building, Deborah’s mother was asked what she was wearing because it smelled so good!!  She then proudly said, “My daughter makes this”.  It wasn’t long before regular deliveries were being made to city clerks, attorneys and parking lot attendants.   Increasingly, friends, co-workers and strangers just had to find out how they could get these nicely scented high quality products.

In addition to expanding her scope of deliveries in and around Detroit, for over 5 years Deborah’s products have been carried at  Detroit’s exclusive aromatherapy boutique Tulani Rose.  Simply DeVine Cards and Gifts Shop, in Ypsilanti, Michigan carries the full Just Jameen line.
 
In 2005, Deborah began to seriously research the possibility of growing her business by adding sales consultants.  Friends and associates continued to express an interest in selling her products and by July 2006, the  decision was made to add staff.  To date there are male and female consultants calling on customers in Southeast Michigan, Ohio,  Los Angeles and Washington DC. 

In addition to working hard to satisfy customers, Deborah has a strong sense of community service and has made it her mission to support or be a board member of organizations that benefit children that are deaf or hard of hearing.  To that end, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Just Jameen products have been used to send deaf & hard of hearing of children to summer camp.  “I believe that a focus on literacy for these children is key so that they may have the same opportunities afforded to them in life “

In 2008, Deborah has set her sites on further growth in Michigan as well as in a number of Western and Southern States and will continue to  add Sales Representatives to support an expanding operation.

Tenacity and perseverance, faith in herself and in God, quality products and "honest business dealings" were the elements and strategies she prescribed for aspiring entrepreneurs who requested the secret to her rags-to-riches ascent. "There is no royal flower-strewn path to success," she once commented. "And if there is, I have not found it for if I have accomplished anything in life it is because I have been willing to work hard."
